Senior Research Scientist
Abercorn Sinclair is delighted to present this opportunity with its industry partner Trogenix as they seek to appoint a Senior Research Scientist.
Trogenix is an early-stage biotechnology company based in Edinburgh focused on the development of novel therapies within oncology. The organisation is progressing programmes within the Cell and Gene Therapy space and is building its research capability to support ongoing preclinical development activities.
The Role
Working within a small research team at Edinburgh’s BioQuarter and reporting to the VP of R&D, you will support the design and execution of experimental studies within discovery programmes. You will generate high-quality data, maintain accurate records and collaborate with colleagues and external partners to complete project deliverables.
This is a laboratory-based role focused on the validation of Synthetic Super-Enhancers (SSEs) and the development and optimisation of associated assays. It requires a hands-on approach, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple experiments in a structured manner.
Technical Expertise
- Mammalian cell line culture, including patient-derived primary cells
- Organoid culture and characterisation
- Functional assay development and optimisation
- Confocal, high content, or high-throughput cell imaging platforms
- Flow cytometry
- Immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence
- Immunoassays such as ELISA
- Automation platforms such as liquid handlers

The Candidate
- The ideal candidate should be educated to MSc, MRes or PhD level (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline and have demonstrable industry experience within drug research and assay development.
- You will have practical experience in cell-based systems, with the ability to design, troubleshoot and refine assays as required.
- You will be experienced in the management of complex data and its integration with downstream platforms.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to clearly communicate experimental findings are essential for this post.
