Hardware Engineer – Contract (Min 4 Months)
Abercorn Sinclair is supporting one of their technology clients based in the central belt as they look to appoint a Contract Hardware Engineer.

Duration: Min 4 months
Hourly rate: Circa £50 p/h
Although there is a level of uncertainty in the current market, our client continues to perform well and has an immediate requirement for a Contract Hardware Engineer with knowledge and experience of OrCAD tool chain.
Test and measurement product:
Development is currently at the hardware schematic design phase of the NPI process. The purpose of this role is to accelerate the development of this product by taking responsibility for the design and test of a new optical board.
There are 3 key phases:
- Design the schematics for a new optical board that satisfies both the technical and schedule requirements of the project. This schematic shall contain the latest generation of pluggable optical module technology (400/200/50 Gbps), local power supplies and filtering, and board to board connectors.
- Support an external PCB Designer during the layout of the optical board. This will initially involve producing the documentation required for the PCB Designer to layout the board. Review the PCB layout and provide guidance to ensure all parameters are met.
- Produce the documentation that is required to fabricate the PCB and assemble the PCA at the CEM. The turn on, debug and verification of the optical board prototypes.
